Expired Domains Prime for Scraping

SEO egghead’s post about penalties associated with expired domains leads me to think an excellent blackhat technique would be to exploit lists of expired domains AFTER they had been snapped. Grabbing feeds from these sites for scraper sites could provide content unique in the eyes of Google.

Not my kind of thing, but I know some people who might think it a good idea.

Article Marketer potential problems?

I have been using articlemarketer.com for the last week to send out some articles for reprint. I encountered a problem with the first batch I published - I wasn’t subscribed to the yahoo groups they sent to, so all my articles were rejected. I had to join each yahoo group individually (there are a lot!). I sent out another batch last night, and it now seems that I am banned from some of the yahoo groups! I hope articlemarketer are sticking to the posting guidelines. I have sent them an email, and will report back here as soon as they answer.

Bitching between article distribution services

Here is an interesting article written by Bill Platt of thephantomwriters.com as published on articlemarketer.com.

It does seem that Bill can’t follow his own guidelines.

ArticleMarketer.com membership

Well, I decided to spend some hard-earned dollars on a 3 month subscription to ArticleMarketer.com. I must say that the initial impression given by the layout is not too impressive, and that the signup procedure is a little bizarre (you actually enter your first article whilst selecting your username and password), and you are immediately requested to pay via paypal subscription.

A confirmation mail is sent you your email address (I guess to confirm that you are using a real address, a good thing I think), until this is responded to your articles will not be distributed.

The member control panel looks quite useful, although not firefox friendly, with your stored articles available to view (and even edit) along with submission dates etc. A useful feature is the ability to request submission of articles at specific dates - if you are going on an extended holiday you can still publish daily/weekly without the worry of finding a connection.

In summary, first impressions are good. Useful but ugly. At $39.95 for three months I am hoping that I have found a bargain!
