I’m looking for an Australian Accountant and/or Taxation Advisor to work alongside my existing UK Accountant to help create a tax efficient structure for my UK company and Australian employees.
Ideally the Accountant would be a pom who qualified in the UK and has subsequently moved to Australia.
Please drop me a line or just reply to this post if you know anyone or can recommend a firm. Thanks

This summer I have been training for my Surf Life Saving Australia Bronze Medallion with a squad at Narrabeen Beach surf club.
On Thursday we went to Manly surf club and joined up with Manly Bronze Squad for our written exam and practical tests in first aid, CPR, signals, radio operation etc. We all breathed a sigh of relief as everyone passed the tests, and focused on the skills test on Sunday.
On Saturday I went to the club for our regular training session to find that the conditions were quite tough. Yesterday (Sunday) they were even tougher! The Manly guys came to our beach to do the water test, their faces were a picture when they arrived and saw the size of the swell
We all managed to pass the tests (except Joss from Manly was unfortunatly hospitalised whilst trying to carry out a board rescue) .The run-swim-run was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do! Three months ago when we started training I wouldn’t have been fit enough to complete it.
Joining up with the surf club has been great for me - I have got fitter, become safe in the water, learnt some useful first aid skills, and most importantly made some great new friends. I’m looking forward to my first day in the uniform out on patrol. Watch out for the pics of me in my purple budgie smugglers coming soon

Well I’m back from my holidays. Did you miss me? The funny thing about living in Narrabeen and going on holiday is that it is difficult to find a better place to be. We visited some areas in on the South Coast of NSW that we hadn’t been to before, some truly beautiful places down there.
Whilst on holiday I even got to visit a cheese factory, where all the cruddy Australian cheese comes from (Ozzies can’t do cheese like the British, or tea ~ I got a cream tea in Kiama and they served the scones with SQUIRTY CREAM OUT OF A CAN!!)
Not much seems to have gone on t’internet whilst I have been away, apart from the return of Esrun! Welcome back Stephen. If you have an interest in rally driving or teaching yourself to paraglide I suggest you get over there and have a read of Esrun’s blog.

Glenn Slaven has posted a detailed look at scheduling in Wordpress 2.1. This functionallity replaces and builds upon the WP-cron plugin by Skippy - the main application I have for this function is correctly publishing posts that you have written in advance (including the ping). Via Ryan Boren.
Mr. Slaven is an Aussie and he has brought the country forward a little with his handy google maps AU firefox plugin. Feels good that Australia is finally on google maps

My pal SEOidiot hits 33 today. He’s done a cartoon on his blog of a SEO/spammer workstation… I’m not sure whos it is (it can’t be Pauls cos the guy in the toon has got hair), but it looks an awful lot like mine:

That’s pretty tidy for me (afterall I have only been here a month). Anyway, Happy Birthday Paul… next time I’m in Preston the beers are on me.
