Breast pumps or (nipple pumps) allow moms to pump (or express) their breast milk. The expressed milk can be stored, usually chilled, to be fed to baby at a later time. This is useful in many different situations.
There are times when a mother can’t be with her child to nurse. More and more moms are back to work soon after giving birth – breastpumps allow milk to be left with baby for feeding. Other times when pumping milk is advantageous include when mom has sore nipples, or when baby hasn’t yet understood how to breastfeed.
Breastmilk is considered to be superior to formula milk by leading health professionals (and moms!) so it is best to breastfeed or feed baby on expressed milk whenever possible. To learn more about the benefits of breastpumps visit breast-pump.info.
