After listening to the latest strikepoint podcast I get the feeling that Shawn (owner of the excellent DigitalPoint) may be the next a-list SEO/SEM guy to present a show on WebmasterRadio.fm. DaveN and Shirtmoney certainly rate him as good to party with; and he has done some great work with his webmaster tools and webmaster forum.
Anyway Shawn, if you read this I hope it all works out with the Fockers.

Here is another wordpress theme modified to include adunits, adlinks and google sitesearch. The theme is based on Green boqpod (?) from Hardi P. I liked the theme as soon as I saw it and was delighted to find that Hardi P had included .psd filed for the header and footer images, making it really simple to modify.
See the theme in action at this new self tanning site.
The theme currently doesn’t work with my amazon plugin for wordpress, I hope to address that soon.
I hope that the theme is useful to someone out there – please dont forget to link to me (and Hardi P.) to show your appreciation!

Some of my older adsense sites have what I consider to be a low CTR(and these are informational type sites, not games or myspace type sites where I might expect that kind of adsense CTR). These sites receive a fair amount of traffic so I have been thinking of updating the look of some of them with better adsense blending.
Blending is the art of tuning the adsense colors and borders etc. to be similar to you page (or vice versa). I have come across a few great adsense implementations & thought I should share them with the readers of my blog.

This implementation of adsense is a large rectangular block providing site navigation blended with adverts. Pretty neat huh? Click the image for a full size snapshot. This code is being used on myspace layout sites using Greg’s myspace script.

An ex-pat by the name of Bernie Tucker is planning a party to be held in Perth, Western Australia, to mark the Guild in six years time. Bernie emigrated from Lostock Hall 36 years ago, and still misses English pubs.
For the last Guild in 1992 Bernie organised a live telephone link-up with Sir Tom Finney and the Guild mayor Harold Parker. 460 ex-pat Prestonians joined Bernie from all over Australia for a night of Lancashire fun including
- morris dancing
- a brass band
- hot-pot supper (yum!)
- miss Preston Guild competition
Bernie can be contacted at burnt (at) iprimus.com.au and should be able to respond when he returns to Australia at the start of September. I will be there for sure, and you should be too!
