Bethan Diana Lally

My mate Dave the Post sent me this link to his little girls gallery: Bethan Diana Lally – cute or what? If you look hard enough you can even find a picture of me holding Bethan in there somewhere. Dave, Ali and Bethan came to visit us yesterday – think they are all starting to get a bit more sleep now that she is a few weeks old!

Birthday celebrations

Yesterday was my birthday – I took Friday, Saturday and Sunday off to celebrate. I didn’t even touch a computer for three days (except one in the URBIS centre in Manchester, and that was part of an art display).

Thursday night I took the camper to The Dressers. Had a few beers with Big Yak, Hippy and Snig (who calls himself Andy these days) – good laugh as ever. Left the van keys with Hippy so he can sort out the crankshaft oil seal and a bit of welding. I reckon (with a bit of luck) he might even put a breather pipe on there (I have only been asking him for about 3 years).

Wellington

On Friday morning Anne dragged me out of bed and bundled me into the car. She took me for lunch in Manchester at the Old Wellington which picked me up enough to manage a walk to Afflecks Palace. I hadn’t been in there for years – great memories. Anne got me a new man bag, which is really cool!

Later we checked in to a hotel for the night, and then went out to eat. Wagamama’s rocks! I lurve Asian food! Anne presented me with a small silver envelope containing tickets for Jack Johnson!!!!! Jack and the whole band were real cool. It was so cold in Manchester that Jack wore shoes on stage for what he said was the first time & had to kick them off cos his feet were getting mingin. We met Nic & Slim there too (another suprise!) – it was really good to see them as they have been in New Zealand for the last five weeks.

After the concert we took a walk down to Walkabout – fair dinkum Aussie bar – then grabbed a taxi to Rusholme for the curry mile – yes, that is two curries within about 5 hours of each other. I am a curry monster! I’m fairly sure we visited the Mughli – OK, but not the best ever. You have to try all of them though!

Saturday we woke up late & checked out late (as usual) and took a walk to the URBIS, and grabbed a (rare breeds) burger at the open markets, then jumped in the car and trekked home.

Sunday (the day of my birthday) we woke up late (see a pattern emerging?) and I opened some presents and cards. Anne had got my 30th birthday present (a picture of the opera house bought from Peter Lik galleries when we lived in Sydney) framed. It looks great in the lounge.

Spam Karma

Just installed Spam Karma 2.2 from Dr. Dave (thanks Dave!). Hoping that it will go some way to preventing all the junk comments and trackbacks that I have been receiving of late. Now I have to go and patch up all my other 1,234 Wordpress sites *sigh*

Ultimate iPod dock from DLO

DLO dock for iPod

Check out this dock from DLO. It allows you to view the menu of your iPod on your TV – a totally awesome step! I always thought remotes for iPods were a bit useless till I saw this. Think I might have to have one of these!

PR web press releases

I have been thinking about doing a press release for an upcoming project. I found this interesting article by Jennifer Laycock:

Zero Dollars, a Little Talent and 30 Days – Day 30 – Launching the Press Release, Adding Up the Till and Offering Up a Little More…

There is also this thread to check out, and this one.
